Sunshiki Co., Ltd.

Seaweed Technology to Change the World

Opening the world with
seaweed in three colors.

Seaweed requires no freshwater, absorbs CO₂ as it grows, and can be transformed into food, materials, and energy. Seaweed is one of the most promising answers to the many challenges our planet faces.

Sunshiki — our name comes from the three colors of seaweed in Japanese: green algae, brown algae, and red algae. "Sunshiki(三色)" means "three colors." Each species carries entirely different properties. We choose and apply the most suitable seaweed for each challenge and application. The possibilities of seaweed are as numerous as its species.

Our first focus is on Asparagopsis (red algae) for methane reduction in the livestock industry. The technological foundation we build here — in cultivation, processing, and mass production — will serve as the platform for diverse seaweed applications in the future. Taking the rich seas of Asia as our stage, we challenge global problems as a seaweed-tech company rooted in innovation.

Land-based aquaculture facility

Foundation of Seaweed Technology

Seedling Production

We stably produce healthy seedlings with low contamination and strong growth through our selection and cultivation technology.

Land-based Aquaculture

Through environmental management in land-based facilities, we build a stable production system independent of seasons and weather.

AI Optimization

We digitize environmental data such as water temperature and light intensity to optimize seaweed production.

Kochi University Partnership

As a Kochi University spin-off, we translate scientific insights directly into our operations through joint research with the laboratory.
